I've been conducting qualitative usability tests for over 13 years. This is an example a recent usability test I conducted for my company's website in late 2019.
This is my usability testing checklist which I perform before every test. It's a helpful way to keep track of the necessary steps involved when preparing for each usability test.
I usually create a testing plan to outline the specific details of each test which I share with the team. This is also when I start the recruitment process for testers.
Once I have my participants, I start writing the testing tasks. Each task focuses on improving a necessary workflow for the website (or product).
Once all the tests are complete, I meet with my team members to discuss the results and to prioritize the list of items that need improvement.
The results of the test and proposed next steps are outlined and shared with stakeholders.
